Love and Metal Madness - Chapter 5/END

[Emily's POV]

I'd love to help Knuckles and his friends find the chaos emeralds, and I'm sure Kyle would to; but I don't think either of us are in any condition to be searching for them.

"We'd love to help you guys find the emeralds, but I don't think neither me or Kyle are in any condition to do so at the moment thanks to that fight. I'm..really sorry."

"It's fine, Emms. You two should just rest up and regain your strength."

"Thank you, Knuckles. Emily and I also app..reci..ate you and Tails taking care of us.."

"It was no problem at all."

"Despite the fact that you yourself are injured, Knucklehead?"

"Like I said, it was no problem at all."

We all continued chatting for a little while until I finally decided to make my leave.

"I think I'm gonna return home now."

"Alright, just don't do anything crazy and hurt yourself again"

"Duly noted."

I got up slowly (with some minor help from Knuckles) and started making my way back to my hut. I think I heard from behind me that Kyle was gonna go home to.

After a minute of walking, a thought popped into my head.

(Wait..during that fight with Metal yesterday, did Kyle say that he...loved me?) I could feel myself blushing a bit at that thought. I also couldn't help but smile either.

I decided to take a minor detour before going home and go to a beach that wasn't that far from my hut. Mainly just so I could continue on with my thoughts in a peaceful setting.

(Aah, it is very peaceful here.. Anyways, Kyle said that he loved me... I think I might just love him to. I think I love him to. I mean, the guy pretty much saved my life for crying out loud! If that doesn't show that he's incredibly kind and loyal, I don't know what does!)

As I was continuing on with my thoughts, I notice out in the corner of my eye a familiar figure sitting near me. I turned my head to them and I saw...Kyle? I got up from where I was sitting and sat next to him.

I guess he heard me walking to him, cause he turned his head to me.

"E-Emily..? What are you doing here..?"

"What are you doing here?"

"Touché.. Well, I just came here to think about some stuff before I went home.." I noticed him blushing a bit as he said that. I just couldn't help but smile at him.

"What a coincidence, I came here for the same exact reason. Well, I wanted to ask you about something."

"What..?"

"Yesterday while we were fighting Metal, after you blocked that attack for me..you said you loved me. Is that true..? Do you really love me...?" I swear I think I saw Kyle's face almost turn red once I was done saying that. He can be so cute sometimes, I swear he does it on purpose.

"Y-Y-Yes... I mean, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you ever since we went to that carnival.." I nearly blushed myself, but I did smile a good bit when I heard his answer.

"That's good because... I love you to."

His entire face turned red as I finished my sentence.

"R-Really...?! How come?"

"Um, you saved my life for goodness sakes...! If that doesn't bring out your kindness and loyalty by blocking a potentially deadly shot, I don't know what does! Besides, I haven't stopped thinking about you ever since that carnival, either!"

I noticed that his face turned slightly more red, but it went down a bit when he finally spoke a little bit later.

"W-Well... I guess neither of us could stop thinking about each other.."

"Looks like it..." I looked over to the sky and it looked like the sun was setting.. It looked so beautiful, so peaceful....so romantic.. I just couldn't stop myself from what I did next..

"Hey Kyle...?"

"Yeah...?"

After he turned his head to me as he said that, I quickly leaned forward and gave him a kiss on his lips. When I pull myself back, I saw that his face turned pretty much as red as my fur, and his tail, along with the hairs at the end of it, were sticking up. It was just so funny and cute, I couldn't help but chuckle a bit at it.  

"H-Hey, it's not funny...!"

"You are adorable sometimes, y'know that...? Anyways, that was my first kiss; so you better feel lucky."

I got a feeling that it was his first kiss too, so I just wrapped my arm around his shoulders and we started watching the sunset together until he finally spoke up.

"S-So, Emms... I was thinking...after both of our in...jur...ies... finally heal and we get our strength back, do you wanna-"

"Go out on a date..?" He almost blushed even more when I said that.

"Y-yeah...that.."

"Sure, no problem.." He smiled at this.

"Great.."

We then continued to watch the sun set together.
